Proof...That AnyBody Can Be A Biker

On The Second Scratch...

In March 2007 I couldn't fight that itch anymore, so it's off to Craig's List.  I found this '84 Kawasaki KZ750CSR.  It ran good, the front forks leaked, the tank had a couple of dents in it and there was a mysterious switch by the headlight.  So, we got an old school sissy bar and some saddlebags.

I rode this monster for about 20 miles.  It died. It wouldn't hit a lick, not even turn over and when I kicked it..it kicked back.  Bad Kaw, bad.

I towed it to a repair shop that was reputed to be good but cheap.  I found that to be true, but not good where it counted at the time.  Man were they slow.  They had my bike for TWO WEEKS!  They never did find the problem...it just started one day.  In the process they managed to sell me a new battery and a used rear tire.

Well, it ran fine for a couple of months then developed a miss.  I just figured bad gas...but I was wrong.  It didn't go away.  I grabbed a can of Amsoil Carb Cleaner and had at it!  I used half the can on it the first time...no difference.  I used the other half next and it made a difference...and not in a good way.

Let's just say that the carbs are now sitting on a workbench after soaking in Varisol for several days...still discolored.  I'll never use another AmSoil product again.
